Open Market status reaffirmed

31st July 2014

BBC Radio Guernsey report that Open Market residents in Guernsey are being reassured about their future status. Proposed changes in Housing Control Laws have been blamed for creating uncertainty and there have been calls for separate laws to bolster confidence.

The States of Guernsey Chief Minister, Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, says he intends to do his best to revive the market and told the States Assembly meeting there’s no reason to wait for legislation to see that happen. “We just need to find some will and energy and stop complaining about the situation as occurred,” he said referring to the reasons for the uncertainty.
