New Island Development Plan revealed

The States Environment Department has released a draft version of the new Island Development Plan.

The thorny issue of derelict vineries is addressed and there is support for the agricultural industry. Light industry and distribution areas will be consolidated and, in general terms, between 20% and 30% of new developments will have to provide affordable housing.

The 10 year plan remains open to public consultation and also subject to a public planning inquiry expected to commence in October 2015.

The draft plan can be downloaded at and copies are available for inspection at the Environment Department at Frossard House, the Greffe, the Guille Alles Library and at parish Douzaine Rooms. Enironment Dept and Policy Council personnel will be available to answer questions and explain aspects of the plan at informal drop-in events planned for Saturday 21st February at Earlswood Garden Centre between 9am – 2pm and at the same time the following Saturday at Le Friquet Garden Centre.
