Victorian fort on West coast headland

4th April 2015

Cooper Brouard’s Open Market Director, Ross Le Marquand, has been quizzed and quoted by the Guernsey Press about the potential of Fort Richmond as an Open Market residential property.

Standing prominently on a west coast headland between Vazon and Perelle, the 1850’s fortified barrack block has lain empty for many years. The States of Guernsey own the property and decided to sell Fort Richmond, once permission’s been granted to list it on Part ‘A’ of the Open Market register.

Ross correctly questions the structural integrity of the building and the sensitivity of planning issues as key aspects of the property’s potential, but also draws comparisons with Belvedere House - which the States sold in 2008 for £5m - and the superbly remodelled Fort Sausmarez at L’Eree - currently on the market at £5.3m.

Ross Le Marquand is a leading authority on Open Market properties with more than 25 years experience selling some of Guernsey’s most notable houses. Contact Ross on ross@cooperbrouard.com - office (01481) 236039 or mobile 07781 150774
